Invisalign on the Go: What You Need

When undergoing Invisalign treatment, there are some essentials that you will need to have with you to keep your aligners clean and fresh while on the go.

Invisalign clear aligners are designed to allow you to continue to live your life the way you want, while still providing the orthodontic treatment you require.

Even though your life won't likely be significantly changed by orthodontic treatment, there are a few things you should be aware of. There are a few essential items you must carry with you throughout your treatment because you will need to brush and floss your teeth more frequently and store your aligners safely when they are not in your mouth to keep them clean and fresh.

A pouch.

To start, you’ll need a pouch to keep all of your Invisalign maintenance items in. It needs to be something durable that you can toss in your bag, backpack, desk or locker. You're also going to want the pouch to be zippered, with a lining that's water-resistant (for damp toothbrushes).

Your aligner case.

When not in use, your aligners should be kept clean and protected in their case. To ensure that your aligners are kept in a secure, hygienic location while you eat, drink, or brush your teeth, keep the case with you at all times.

Those who do not carry their aligner case with them have a higher chance of breaking or damaging their aligners, which will cause delays in treatment while you wait for the tray to be replaced.

Lip balm.

Keep your favourite lip balm in your kit. With orthodontic treatment comes dry lips, especially while you’re getting used to wearing your aligners. Be prepared so you don't experience any added discomfort.

Travel toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste.

Each time you take out your aligners to eat, you should brush and floss your teeth afterwards. You don’t want food particles and debris stuck between your aligners and your teeth for the rest of the day, so be sure you brush and floss thoroughly before putting your aligners back in your mouth.

“Outie” Aligner Removal Tool

Sometimes, your aligners will be especially tight, particularly when you first switch over to a new set. This handy tool will help you detach your aligner from your teeth in these cases.

Mints or breath spray.

You can’t chew gum with your Invisalign aligners in place, so if you're concerned about having bad breath, mints or breath spray will help you feel more confident.
